The Minnig family was one of the first families to spend the winter in Bettmeralp.
In 1948, Hans and Margrith Minnig built a simple holiday chalet with a kiosk on the very spot where the hotel stands today – meant for summer hikers passing by in search of provisions. Winter tourism wasn’t a thing yet, but hospitality certainly was. Over the generations, this idea grew into the mountain hotel Alpfrieden – with heart, history and an eye for what really matters.

Good to know before you arrive
Hotel Alpfrieden is at Seestrasse 3 in Bettmeralp, a car-free village at around 2,000 metres (6,500 ft) above sea level in the Aletsch Arena, in the canton of Valais, Switzerland. It’s a 10–12 minute walk from the cable car top station, or we can pick you up.
Travel by train or car to the Bettmeralp valley station in Betten, then take the cable car up to Bettmeralp. The ride takes 7 to 9 minutes. Cars aren’t allowed in the village, and there’s parking at the valley station.
