Getting to Bettmeralp
Getting to car-free Bettmeralp is easy, either by car (as far as the Bettmeralp valley station) or by public transport. Guests can park in the valley, and from there the cable car takes you up to car-free Bettmeralp. In winter, the SBB luggage service makes arrival and departure stress-free, and up on Bettmeralp you can enjoy the car-free streets and direct access to the slopes.
By car or train
to the Bettmeralp valley station
From Zurich via the Furka Pass (summer only) or via the Furka car shuttle train (Realp–Oberwald). From Bern via the Lötschberg car shuttle train (Kandersteg–Goppenstein). Set your GPS navigation to «Betten Talstation».

IMPORTANT: Bettmeralp is entirely car-free and reachable only by cable car. Ample open-air and covered multi-storey parking is available directly at Betten valley station.

Travel comfortably and climate-friendly by public transport to Bettmeralp, and let your luggage travel on its own if you like.
SBB (Swiss Federal Railways) offers several options for transporting luggage, skis and bikes.

Direct train connections run from Zurich Airport (ZRH) and Geneva Airport (GVA) to Visp or Brig. From there, the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn takes you directly to Betten Talstation. Total journey time: approx. 3 hours from Zurich Airport and approx. 3.5 hours from Geneva Airport.

HOTEL ALPFRIEDEN TRANSFER
Hotel Alpfrieden is a picturesque 10–12 minute walk from Bettmeralp mountain station.

If you require luggage pick-up or shuttle service, please call us upon arriving at Betten valley station, so you won’t have to wait once you’re up in Bettmeralp.

In summer, our electric hotel shuttle picks you up (the horse-drawn carriage has long since gone into well-earned retirement). In winter, our hotel snowmobile transfers you across the snow (the horse-drawn sleigh has been out of service since the early ’90s). Both vehicles seat up to 5 people.

PLEASE NOTE: Transfer is CHF 20 per vehicle/trip if not included in your room rate. You’ll find the details in your booking confirmation.

Luggage, lockers and bike transport
LUGGAGE TROLLEYS
For extra luggage such as suitcases or bags, you can hire a luggage trolley for a fee. The trolleys are specially designed to stack several pieces of luggage, so you can easily take them with you on the cable car.
LOCKERS
Aletsch Bahnen offers handy lockers and left-luggage storage if you’d like to keep your luggage safe while you explore the region.
BIKE TRANSPORT
To take your bike on the access cable cars, you can buy single tickets or a day pass for the sports facilities and access cable cars. In summer, the Aletsch Arena day pass covers transport on the access cable cars and on the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGBahn) line. Tickets are available at Aletsch Bahnen AG sales points and ticket machines.

Bettmeralp delights in every season with fresh mountain air, stunning nature and real holiday moments. In summer, hiking trails, bike paths and Lake Bettmersee beckon. In winter, the Aletsch Arena turns into a snowy paradise for skiers, sledgers and anyone who loves winter. It’s a place to breathe deeply, discover and simply feel good.
